ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production.
Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns only.
Residential option on Groote Eylandt considered.
As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the governance systems and processes to ensure Mechanical Engineering standards are consistently applied across operations.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
Develop and maintain governance systems and processes to ensure mechanical engineering standards, specifications, and procedures are consistently upheld across operations.
Deliver expert mechanical design support for equipment, systems, and processes, covering both existing infrastructure and new projects.
Apply a thorough understanding of Australian Standards to ensure compliance and effective governance within the GEMCO operation.
Oversee and maintain the classified plant register, ensuring accurate tracking of plant, equipment, and infrastructure across GEMCO operations.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
Significant experience in a similar role within mining or heavy industry, ideally with exposure to remote locations and/or an operational asset.
Strong understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and ability to apply principles and procedures in the workplace.
Demonstrating commitment to safe working practices.
Proficient in producing complex and detailed mechanical design using mechanical design and drafting packages.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (Required)
- Eligible for RPEQ or CPEng Class C Driver's License
