The Ocean Bar Pty Ltd is on the hunt for a Head Chef This role is a full-time position, salary is $78,000+ (negotiable dependent upon experience). The chef must oversee the daily operations of the restaurant kitchen to ensure the customer experience and sequence of service is executed professionally, safely and accurately by all kitchen staff and that operating costs are in accordance with budgets.The Head Chef must be competent in all areas of the kitchen (entrees, mains, desserts) and the overall operation and kitchen management. The Head Chef has an excellent level of food, allergen and dietary knowledge and competency. The Head Chef must take a pro-active approach to running the kitchen, always looking for ways to improve and grow the menu and customer experience.Qualifications / Skills / ResponsibilitiesQualification in Commercial Cookery highly sought afterMinimum 2 years experience in Kitchen Management (3+ years in a similar role preferred)Strong interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent team leadershipDemonstrate an ability to manage menu operating costs in accordance with set budgetsHighly organised and detail-orientedHire, train and supervise chefs, prep hands and dishwashers alike.Working knowledge of general restaurant operations, including personnel management, purchasing, sanitation and health codes, and securityDemonstrate a pro-active approach to WH&S and equipment maintenanceEnsure all employees are working within outlined operating standardsTrack stock levels of food and supplies and place orders as necessaryPlan and execute team briefingsBe able to assist the restaurant manager to resolve any issues that may ariseEnsure kitchen is clean and hygiene regulations are followed across all areas, to the highest standardSummary of role requirements:Flexible hours available2-3 years of relevant work experience required for this roleWorking rights required for this roleExpected start date for role: 01 November 2024Expected salary: $78,000 per year
