Purchasing Officer – Stuart Alexander & Co

At Stuart Alexander & Co we pride ourselves on being one of Australia's leading privately-owned FMCG companies, specializing in importing, marketing, and distributing premium global brands such as Chupa Chups, Mentos, Tabasco, Biscoff and Hersheys.
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our vibrant Supply Chain Team.
Reporting to the Integrated Planning Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the seamless flow of goods to meet our business needs.
You'll work closely with overseas brand partners, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, manage stock levels, and optimize supply chain efficiencies.
The Role
As a Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for managing the Supply process, coordinating shipments, and maintaining accurate stock forecasts to support the business's operational and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Supply Planning: Recommend order quantities, ensure efficient container utilization, and mitigate demand/supply risks.
Shipment Management: Oversee and track all shipments from purchase order generation to delivery at our warehouse facilities.
Stock Analysis: Review stock levels and compare sales to forecasts, recommending appropriate purchase quantities.
Forecasting: Prepare shipment plans for brand partners and communicate lead times while proactively addressing potential issues.
Documentation: Ensure all necessary shipping and customs clearance documents are prepared and reviewed accurately.
Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and enhance efficiencies.
Compliance: Manage IFIP inspections and customs entry analysis to ensure compliance with regulations.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a highly organized and proactive professional with a strong understanding of supply chain processes, particularly within the FMCG sector.
You'll have a keen eye for detail, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to delivering excellence.
Experience: At least three years of experience in purchasing consumer retail products, preferably within FMCG.
Experience managing shipping documentation and liaising with freight forwarders is essential.
Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills, with advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
Familiarity with MRP systems is highly desirable.
Knowledge: A solid understanding of planning and procedures for purchasing imported and exported consumables, along with customs clearance processes.
Attributes: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
