Technical Delivery Lead

AIA is building a new modern data and analytics platform using Azure Databricks and Power BI.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Delivery Lead – BI and Analytics to join our Technology team.
This role will lead data migration from legacy BI and analytics applications to Power BI and Azure Databricks solutions.
It will require significant stakeholder engagement, helping define requirements, driving design, development and implementation of fit-for-purpose BI and analytics solutions, taking ownership of the BI and analytics platform, ensuring availability and stability, leading and mentoring team members (both onshore and offshore) while promoting a high-performing and collaborative environment.
This role reports to the Head of Data Platforms and Analytics and can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.
To do this successfully you will: Business Intelligence and analytics solutions: Partner closely with Business stakeholders and BI and analytics teams within the business to define comprehensive BI and analytics solutions that offer actionable insights to all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment of business intelligence efforts with business priorities.
Design and lead the development of BI and analytics solutions and the underlying data reporting layer.Technical Delivery Management: Take full responsibility for the delivery of fit-for-purpose BI and analytics solutions, working closely with Project Managers to provide inputs on technical tasks required, estimations, leading technical delivery and release management to ensure successful project implementation.Governance and Standardization: Establish templates, standards, and guidelines for report developers in both IT and business units.
Drive consistency in reporting practices and enable data democratization through self-service BI for business users.BI and Analytics platform ownership: Take responsibility for the maintenance and stability of the reporting and analytics environment.
Lead the resolution of operational issues and ensure the platform's reliability.
Ensure quality and completeness of application and platform documentation.Collaboration and Partnership: Collaborate with Business stakeholders to define and build impactful BI and analytics solutions.
Partner with fellow IT stakeholders like Technical Delivery Lead – Data, Data Engineering Lead, and Architecture team for the development of BI and analytics solutions.Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Business Intelligence Analysts (onshore and offshore) in the development of best practices in business intelligence and analytics.To be successful in this position you will have: A bachelor's degree in information technology or related discipline with 8+ years of managing delivery and operation of BI and analytics platforms and services, preferably in the insurance or financial industry.Deep understanding of Power BI, data visualization practices, and underlying data engineering and modeling to support the reporting data layer, preferably in Databricks or similar.Experience in reporting within the life insurance domain – covering claims, policy, underwriting is not mandatory but is highly valued.Proven experience in independently leading the technical delivery of a team of BI engineers, both onshore and offshore, while effectively managing delivery risks and issues.Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing Business Intelligence team.Migration experience from Cognos and Tableau to Power BI will be highly regarded.Why choose AIA: Access our training and development to build on your current skills.Career development through internal mobility opportunities.Work for a business helping millions of Australians and make a difference to someone's life every day.Access additional leave days a year to recharge and refresh yourself.Enjoy wonderful Health and Wellbeing initiatives that support you.Work with supportive and inclusive managers.Flexible working arrangements.AIA is different.
