About the Role
In the role of Allied Health Lead, you are responsible for leading and developing the Allied Health Services across Hummingbird House and its services.
As the Allied Health Lead, you will have direct line management of all Allied Health Staff within the service and will ensure delivery of financial and clinical service KPI's.
You will hold a clinical caseload and deliver direct patient care, ensuring the Allied Health services meet the needs of the children and families with a life-limiting condition.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Provide direction in the development of the Allied Health services across Hummingbird House services in line with financial and clinical KPI's.
Support the strategic development of NDIS Allied Health services at Hummingbird House.
Hold line management responsibility for the Allied Health team.
Provide and support a learning environment by mentoring and promoting team development and opportunities to enhance patient care and ensure succession planning for the role.
Ensure timely and seamless care delivery of the Allied Health Services for families across the service.
Undertake accurate assessment, treatment, and evaluation of the Allied Health needs of children and their families accessing Hummingbird House.
Develop individual care plans which meet the needs of children and their families with a life-limiting illness.
Provide instruction, supervision, and education to Allied Health staff in the provision of therapy programs.
Provide a best practice standard of Allied Health care within the service.
Comply with all Wesley Mission Queensland Limited (WMQL) Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve best practice outcomes for children with a life-limiting illness.
Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement, Accreditation activities required to meet the National Standards and the Private Health Regulatory Unit Licensing requirements and all staff meetings.
Review current trends in the provision of Allied Health Services and make recommendations as appropriate to the Care Services Manager.
Undertake induction and training of all clinical and volunteer staff, where appropriate, to ensure the ongoing safety of guests, staff, and families who require the services provided by Hummingbird House.
Collaborate in planning for future service development in line with strategic business objectives.
About You
Have previous experience in supervising or leadership of other Allied Health professionals.
Demonstrate ability and proficiency in therapy assessment and interventions with children and their families.
Have experience and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Evidence experience and a willingness to work with children with life-limiting conditions.
Demonstrate an elevated level of verbal and written communication skills particularly in establishing and maintaining rapport with staff, children, and their families.
Evidence of the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, displaying the flexibility and collaboration required to achieve positive outcomes for children and their families.
Demonstrate an understanding of Workplace Health & Safety issues, Equal Opportunity, and Anti-discrimination legislation and Inclusivity.
What makes a difference for us
Hold tertiary qualifications in the specialty of Allied Health, e.g., Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, or Physiotherapy.
Hold professional registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (APHRA).
Proof of Vaccination Status as required by Legislation, Health Directives or WMQ Policy throughout employment and prior to commencement.
Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy.
Possess a 'C' class driver's license and willingness to drive in the course of work.
