As the HR Policy & Workplace Instruction Lead, you will leverage your expertise in employment regulations to build strong relationships across various departments and faculties within the University.
Your ability to communicate complex compliance obligations clearly to stakeholders at all levels will be pivotal in ensuring the University remains fully compliant with its employment-related responsibilities.
You will work closely with the Employment Compliance Directorate and the Policy, Change & Communications team to enhance the University's understanding of existing policies.
Additionally, you will support effective change management initiatives when policies are updated.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the University's compliance efforts and engage with key stakeholders to ensure they understand and meet their obligations.
This role is perfect for an experienced HR Lead looking to apply and expand their expertise while building valuable networks across the University.
You will play a crucial part in ensuring the University continues to meet its employment obligations, all while making a meaningful impact and benefiting from a work environment that promotes professional growth and development.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead the development and subsequent ownership of a University HR Policy and Work Instruction Framework, ensuring all instructions are contemporary and provide a cohesive and consumable message to stakeholders.
Develop and update University-wide HR policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the University's objectives and compliance standards.
Provide strategic advice to and work closely with senior University stakeholders responsible for creating work instructions, ensuring consistency.
Develop strong stakeholder relationships across the University to gain insights into their operational environments, using this understanding to ensure HR policies and instructions remain relevant, actionable, and aligned.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking an HR policy expert with extensive experience in employment-related legislation.
You will possess strong problem-solving and strategic critical thinking skills, with a proven track record of diagnosing and resolving complex technical challenges.
As a highly effective communicator, you will have the ability to influence, inspire, and motivate stakeholders, ensuring their engagement and understanding of key issues.
You will also have:
A Post-Graduate Qualification in Human Resources, Finance, Law, Risk Management, or a similar field and extensive experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of extensive experience and education/training.
Extensive experience with and deep knowledge of employment-related legislation and associated obligations, including those arising from Enterprise Agreements and Awards, with substantial experience in interpreting and applying these within an organisational context.
Deep experience in developing and owning a policy and instruction framework, either at a whole of organisation level or for within the context of a broader organisational framework.
Experience working with the higher education sector that might have been gained working within a university setting or as a consultant to the university sector, that has enabled a detailed understanding of university operating norms in Faculty and Portfolio settings.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
