Health Promotion Officer - Cancer ScreeningWest Moreton Health's (WMH) cancer screening services encompass the BreastScreen Queensland (BSQ) Cancer Screening Program.
The BSQ Ipswich Service is funded to provide mammography screening to women aged 50 to 74 years, aiming to improve treatment options through early detection of breast cancer and subsequently reduce cancer mortality.
Women aged 40 to 49 and 75 and over are also welcomed to attend, along with clients who were born, present, or identify as female.
BreastScreen services are provided in the WMH region through fixed clinics at Ipswich Health Plaza and Yamanto Central Shopping Centre, and across 21 sites visited by mobile screening units.
BreastScreen Ipswich also conducts regular health promotion activities for breast screening services within the WMH region, as well as working in partnership with the McGrath Foundation's BreastCare Nurses.
The role of the Health Promotion Officer - Cancer Screening is to increase awareness of and engagement in breast and bowel cancer prevention and early detection behaviours, and maximize participation in breast and bowel cancer screening within the West Moreton Health catchment through the development, implementation, and evaluation of a range of multi-strategy, multi-sector health promotion programs and strategies, in line with relevant national, state, and departmental policy directions.
The role is a key information and resource contact for general practitioners and other health care providers.
About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
High level knowledge, expertise, and skill in health promotion theory, models, and frameworks, in particular their application to population-based screening programs.Ability to apply evidence-based principles, knowledge, and skills to plan, implement, manage, and evaluate the delivery of health promotion projects.Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and partners to build public health and health promotion capacity by utilizing high-level communication skills to advocate and promote the health and wellbeing of individuals and the community.Ability to contribute to organizational quality and performance standards by providing advice to key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of evidence-based health promotion strategies in line with the most up-to-date evidence, while respecting the dignity, culture, values, beliefs, and rights of individuals and populations.Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods, in particular their application to population-based screening programs.West Moreton Health is one of the most rapidly evolving health services in the southeast corner, with community growth expected to almost double to more than 588,000 by 2036.
