We're looking for one DA Planner with a minimum of 2 years' experience and a Senior Planner with a minimum of 6 years' experience.

Your role will be to engage multiple stakeholders in the planning and development process in order to assess and resolve complex planning, urban design and heritage issues on development applications in a high profile, iconic area of Sydney.

The DA Planner Role:
Managing enquiries related to application submissions and regulatory processes Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with approved development conditions Preparing and presenting reports and written correspondence for both internal and public audiences Collaborating with senior planners and contributing to ongoing policy development Maintaining accurate records and adhering to the Council's standards for safety and environmental management.
The Senior Planner Role (in addition to the role of the DA Planner):
Offering expert planning advice to the community Overseeing the assessment and determination of development applications Mentoring and providing support to a team of development assessment staff Collaborating with the Development Assessment Section to improve and enhance the development assessment service, systems and processes Leading the day-to-day activities of a Development Assessment Team.
About You
Tertiary Qualifications/ at degree level in Town Planning, Architecture, Urban Design or equivalent field.
Experience (a minimum of 2 years for DA Planners and a minimum of 6 years for Senior Planners) in the Town or Urban Planning industry or related field (preferably in local government and in NSW).
Sound experience in development assessment and urban design assessment and analysis.
In-depth knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
Negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to mediate outcomes and liaise with community focus/precinct groups.
Well-developed skills in the assessment and resolution of complex planning, heritage and urban design issues associated with major development applications.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and to balance and respond flexibly to competing priorities.
Excellent written and oral communication, report writing, presentation, computer and administrative skills.
