Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Responsible AI and Threat ModelsPostdoctoral Research Fellow - Responsible AI and Threat ModelsApply locations St Lucia Campus time type Full time posted on Posted 18 Days Ago job requisition id R-41693School of Electrical Engineering and Computer ScienceFull-time (100%), fixed-term position until December 2026Base salary will be in the range $78,871.35 - $105,004.02 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A)Based at our St Lucia campusAbout This OpportunityWe are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to address the challenges associated with using XR in HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) training by developing innovative techniques and tools to support usable privacy, privacy-preserving AI/ML, and ethically responsible AI/ML.
This position is part of a joint CSIRO Data61-UQ Cyber Research Centre project which aims to develop innovative solutions for privacy and ethical considerations in XR-based HSE training.This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in their discipline.
At this level, it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.Key responsibilities include:1.
ResearchConduct in-depth research on privacy threats and vulnerabilities in XR environments.Develop and implement threat models to assess the impact of different types of attacks on XR systems.Contribute to the development of a risk assessment framework for AI-intensive HSE scenarios, considering privacy, ethical, and/or security implications.Research and develop techniques for operationalizing AI principles, such as the right to be forgotten, in XR applications.Contribute to the design and implementation of a data governance framework, including the development of DataBOM standards and blockchain-based solutions.Collaborate with researchers and industry partners to translate research findings into practical solutions.Publish research findings in high-quality academic journals and conferences.Supervise research students and interns as required.2.
Supervision and Researcher DevelopmentContribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).Demonstrate personal effectiveness in supervision and the management of researcher development.Effectively lead and develop supervisee performance and conduct by providing feedback, coaching, and professional development.As appropriate, manage research support staff effectively throughout the employee lifecycle in accordance with University policy and procedures.Work to promptly resolve conflict and grievances when they arise in accordance with University policy and procedures.This is a research-focused position.
