Inspired by our commitment to innovation and resident-centred dining, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our team and help redefine the aged care dining experience.The Role:This is an operational role, reporting to the General Manager (Site Manager) and supported by our Service Excellence Officer.
You will be a key part of our collaborative catering team, contributing to seamless operations across our three aged care homes.Your responsibilities include providing leadership and continuity during Chef absences, supporting day-to-day kitchen operations, and playing a key role in our exciting dining transformation project.
You'll also have the opportunity to work on special initiatives, such as implementing themed dining experiences and contributing to innovative menu revamps that celebrate Greek and Mediterranean cuisine.Bring your creativity to life by shaping dining experiences that highlight traditional Greek flavours in two of our homes and broader Mediterranean influences in another, delighting residents and their families with every meal.What you'll do and be responsible for:Assist in crafting innovative menus that reflect seasonal Greek and Mediterranean flavours, ensuring alignment with resident preferences and dietary needs.Support the implementation of dining initiatives to enhance the resident experience, focusing on operational excellence and attention to detail.Maintain food quality, safety, and presentation standards in collaboration with the team.Engage with residents during meal service to ensure their dining satisfaction and comfort.Provide leadership and continuity during Chef absences, contributing to seamless operations across sites.Collaborate with team members to design and deliver innovative projects, such as themed dining events or menu refreshes.Work closely with team members and stakeholders to apply co-design principles in food services, menu design, and hospitality processes.What you'll need to succeed:Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.Demonstrated culinary excellence with a flair for Mediterranean cuisine.Experience accommodating diverse dietary needs, including allergen-sensitive, customised, or texture-specific meals, gained in hospitality, catering, or similar environments.Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.A passion for creativity, operational excellence, and delivering memorable dining experiences.Willingness to learn and adapt to the preparation of texture-modified meals and specialised diets through training and support provided.A focus on innovation, aligned with our organisational values of courtesy and kindness.Ability to adapt and bring transferable skills from high-end hospitality or other culinary settings.It would be helpful if you had (but is not essential to apply for the role):Understanding or experience of the Aged Care sector, especially in dietary management.A current National Police Certificate (or willingness to apply).If you want to join our amazing team, St Basil's offers:Professional Growth: Access training and development opportunities to elevate your skills.Meaningful Work: Be part of a team making a genuine difference in residents' lives, fostering real connections with the people we serve.Team Culture: A supportive, inclusive workplace where courtesy and kindness guide our every action.Diverse Opportunities: Experience the joy of enhancing lives through dining while exploring leadership pathways.A Competitive Package: Enjoy salary packaging benefits and competitive remuneration.Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a 5-day roster across 7 days, with some weekend shifts.
