The intensity of growth and investment in City of Parramatta means that Council, their partners, and community have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the City's future and ensure it is culturally, socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable.About the roleThis position is responsible for engineering assessment of applications, subdivision instruments and the provision of engineering advice.On a daily basis you will:Undertake pre-lodgement and development application referrals including but not limited to an assessment of Stormwater management, Earthworks, Water Sensitive Urban Design requirements and associated modelling, Traffic (when no referral to Traffic Engineer), and consideration of flood impacted sites as appropriate.Identify engineering issues and negotiate solutions with internal and external stakeholders.Participate and/or act for Council in internal and external forums including planning panels and the NSW Land and Environment Court.Provide professional engineering written and verbal advice and guidance to the public and staff across the organisation to the highest standard and in a time-efficient manner.Assess applications under the Local Government Act as relevant to Development Engineering and subdivision and conveyancing instruments.Prepare referral assessment reports for determination by Council and planning decision-making bodies.About YouThe successful candidate should have previous experience as an engineer across a range of development types.You will also bring:Tertiary qualifications in civil engineeringCurrent motor vehicle Driver LicenceDemonstrated ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others with an engaging approach and techniqueExcellent project, technology, and time management skillsExcellent communication, teamwork, presentation and negotiation skills and experienceAn understanding of the NSW planning framework relevant to Development Engineering AssessmentOperate stormwater drainage design software e.g., DRAINS software to a basic level.Operate GIS software to an intermediate level.Operate stormwater quality assessment software e.g., MUSIC software to a basic level.Operate TRAPEZE software to a basic level.What's on offerWe are offering a 12-month term contract with an attractive remuneration from $101,563.70 to $111,820.26 plus 11.5% superannuation.In addition, City of Parramatta also offers excellent employee benefits which include:A range of flexible work arrangements including hybrid WFH arrangementsCentral Parramatta location (Public transport at our door, discounted parking)Significant leave benefits (up to 12 days flexi-time, 3 additional leave days at Christmas, 15 days sick/personal leave, 2 days health and wellbeing leave per year)Learning and development opportunitiesHealth and Wellbeing programs (Fitness Passport, flu shots, etc.
