Our community is projected to almost double, reaching over 588,000 residents by 2036.
As the Director of Public Health you will collaborate with West Moreton professional leads and the Department of Health to deliver an effective and safe public health programme.
This is a permanent, flexible full-time opportunity located at The Park, Centre for Mental Health.
The Director Public Health provides public health leadership, strategic management, professional direction, accountability, and authoritative and expert advice on a wide range of public health professional and policy issues, to achieve policy and operational alignment with National, State and West Moreton strategic directions, policies, and professional standards for the effective and safe delivery of the West Moreton Health (WMH) Public Health Programme.
The Public Health Programme is a large multi-discipline and multi-speciality programme for WMH across multiple facilities and has a focus on protecting the health of the community from communicable disease and other illnesses, public health surveillance and reporting as well as screening, and promoting health and wellbeing.
In collaboration with WMH professional leads and the Department of Health, this role drives the functions of clinical governance, public health practice, workforce redesign, education and research frameworks for the Public Health Programme.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Ability to apply an expert level of knowledge and skills in complex contemporary public health practice and solve large-scale, complex public health service problems, applying high level expertise into the development of national and state policies and clinical public health practice standards.
High level understanding of a population health, systems-based approach to improving the health status of a range of people.
Ability to convey strategic initiatives with a broad range of stakeholders and provide expert, authoritative counsel on public health matters to stakeholders.
Ability to provide strategic direction and operational management of a complex public health programme to meet the priorities and strategic direction of WMH and the State.
Mandatory Requirements:
The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification that is accredited by Environmental Health Australia.
Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.
