Kennedys is seeking an experienced Special Counsel to join our busy litigation practice based in either our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office.
Working closely with two highly regarded Partners, Raylee Hartwell and Matt Andrews, and a wider team of experienced Lawyers, you will predominantly be working on an interesting multi-party Federal Court litigation which has reached the discovery phase.
The focus of this work is in the insurance and trade credit space, which will involve working closely with our international offices (namely London).
This is an unique opportunity for an experienced Special Counsel, with first-class technical abilities, to play a key role in this stream of work while also supervising and mentoring junior staff.

The broader insurance group in Sydney have extensive experience working with both domestic and international insurers amongst other corporates across multiple lines of work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors' and officers' (D&O), property and construction, energy, cyber, marine, transport and commercial litigation / employment.

EXAMPLE CASES:The focus will be Supreme Court litigation in the trade credits space, with the opportunity to work on other insurance litigation such as:
High value coverage disputes for financial institutionsDirectors and Officers insuranceHigh value professional indemnity claimsSubrogated recoveries on behalf of insurersInternational arbitrationsCommodities claimsWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:10 years + PQE*, from a reputable commercial litigation teamPrior trade credits exposure is desirable but any Federal Court litigation experience would be advantageousE-litigation or discovery experience would be highly regardedStrong communication skills, both written and verbal are essentialMethodical and organised approach to file management including in relation to the delegation and mentorship of junior lawyers and paralegalsAbility to manage own time, excellent organisation skills and attention to detailHigh level of professionalism and integrity; displaying the highest standard of professional ethics.Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a genuine desire to further your career at KennedysPlease let us know if you require any additional support or adjustments to be made in order to submit your application to Kennedys.
