How will I help? This software engineering lead specialist role involves working for one of the largest banks in Australia and exists to design and develop software solutions, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and processes. The role has strong potential for career growth based on performance.
This position sits within the Business Lending domain which delivers customer servicing and originations technology solutions for the bank's business customer portfolio via both online and staff facing channels.
The technologies used are Java, Spring Boot, Typescript, and ReactJS to integrate with the bank's enterprise services layer, databases, and host systems. Software development practices within the team are aligning to agile methodologies.
This role will move you into an innovative and growing engineering team where you will be working on a range of business and customer critical projects.
Main role and responsibilities are: Lead, motivate and mentor a team of developers. Ensure high quality standards of delivery, which are reusable. Perform the design and development of software solutions for business-critical application change projects, enhancements, and maintenance. Prepare and update high level functional and technical specification documents. Contribute to the development of detailed design documents to enable solutions development to identify final sizing and costing within application domain. Perform the design and development of software solutions according to Group development standards, with the goal of providing reliable, stable, and operationally sound applications that meet business requirements. Apply Design Thinking principles such as customer empathy, creative collaboration and test & learn ensuring solutions address customer needs and are viable and feasible for the business. Plan and conduct unit testing of software solutions designed and developed to ensure quality and fit for purpose deliverables. Apply Agile frameworks, techniques and processes and overlay agile reporting and governance to deliver incremental value to areas of responsibility. Consistently apply tools, standards, methods, and processes in developing solutions to ensure that quality applications are developed with consistent maintainable code which supports risk and compliance management. Review code to deliver quality, regulatory compliance, security, and fraud detection. What is in it for me? What do I need? You will be experienced and have a deep understanding of Java or JavaScript development as your primary skill and will have some level of knowledge in a secondary skill. You will be a problem solver and someone that is continually looking to upskill and develop.
To be considered for this role you need the following skills/experience:
Strong Java or JavaScript skills Minimum 10 years hands-on experience on Java or JavaScript Hands-on experience on Spring/Spring Boot or Typescript/JavaScript framework (ReactJS) Good understanding of Microservices-based architecture Understanding of OOPS & entity relationship management Hands-on experience in Junit, Maven/Gradle, GIT, JIRA General awareness of design patterns Excellent verbal and written communication skills Collaborative team player Knowledge of system development life cycle. Knowledge of applications support and development Ability to work independently or within a team framework Strong time management, workload management and organisational skills What's it like to work there?
