? About the Role The Care Services Senior Practitioner is responsible for providing supervision, mentoring and coaching to the broader Foster Care and Kinship First Supports Team.
Having a strong focus on the recruitment, assessment, and training of foster carers, The Foster Care and Kinship First Supports programs operate across Victoria and are funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).
This role is responsible overseeing assessments, packaging supports (practical and financial) while maintaining operations against targets and budgetary requirements.
The Foster Care Program provides Foster Care services for children and young people who are unable to live with their own families, in the Western Division of Melbourne, Victoria.
Most children and young people are placed in out of home care following child protection intervention.
This role ensures that foster carers are well-prepared and supported through the recruitment process and beyond, including the review of accredited foster carers and the facilitation of retention activities to maintain a strong carer workforce.
This position is covered by the SCHADS award and graded in accordance with the SCHADS classifications.
Note: Baptcare provides above award remuneration for this role to align with current industry market rates.

Key Selection Criteria Sound stakeholder awareness and the ability to build and maintain credible relationships with local networks, government associations, business leaders and other relevant stakeholders Strong working knowledge of the Child Protection system, legislation, and frameworks in addition to practice considerations for Out of Home Care Services In depth knowledge of the legislative and political context, with ability to research and seek information from stakeholders to support and inform assessment of risk and service efficacy Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and prioritise risks and needs of clients in a holistic approach to practice.
Well[1]developed assessment skills congruent with the theories of attachment and trauma Ability to adapt to meet a changing environment and needs of staff, carer and/or client group while maintaining focus on delivery outcomes Strong written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and problem-solving Alignment and commitment to Baptcare's Mission, Vision and Values About You: You are passionate about continuing to grow your career in the Family and Community Services space.
