About the Clinical Assessor position As a Clinical Assessor at AEIOU, you will play a vital role in supporting neurodiverse children and their families.
The role offers foundational psychology skill development, to support your readiness for further training in Psychology or master's programs.
Engaging with Diverse Clients: Working at AEIOU provides you with exposure to a diverse range of neurodiverse clients, facilitating your professional growth.
Each child has a unique profile of abilities and skills, which require tailored intervention and support from a multidisciplinary team, which includes you as a Clinical Assessor.
Conducting Standardised Assessments: You will conduct standardised one-on-one assessments in various AEIOU settings, using established tools to evaluate each child's skills, development, and progress.
These assessments are crucial for identifying individual needs and informing effective intervention strategies.
Managing a Caseload: Clinical Assessors are assigned a manageable caseload, balancing individual responsibilities with shared team tasks.
Through these responsibilities, you will not only contribute to the wellbeing of the children enrolled at AEIOU, but also engage in a continuous learning process that enriches your clinical expertise.
This role will help you build a solid foundation of practical psychology skills, to support progression and application to provisional practice in tertiary post-graduate training programs.
Growth and Professional Development as a Clinical Assessor Within this role, you will be provided numerous opportunities for professional development and growth.
As a Clinical Assessor, you will practice and develop a wide range of transferrable foundational psychology skills.
You will have a structured training and professional development plan to support transition of theoretical knowledge into practical assessment skills; integrating self-paced learning with mentorship.
Education: Engage in collaborative assessments that inform educational strategies and support needs, supporting you to refine your understanding of unique learning requirements.
Scores and outcomes from your assessments can inform a child's learning goals, and intervention planning, facilitating a holistic approach to education.
Multidisciplinary Approach: Work alongside professionals from various disciplines, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances your skills in communication, teamwork, and contextual understanding.
This experience equips you with a comprehensive perspective on the diverse needs of the children and families we support.
Disability Sector: Gain insights into the disability sector, including policies and funding frameworks that guide the provision of support services and assessments.
Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) helps you in understanding how assessments can support advocacy for the unique needs of children with autism, promoting access to essential resources.
Research: Be part of AEIOU's Research & Assessment team, which integrates research projects with clinical assessments.
As a Clinical Assessor, your assessment data contributes to Australia's largest database of children with autism under the age of six.
Our research initiatives focus on key areas such as curriculum impact, family support, evidence-based practice, and diversity, allowing you to play a vital role in shaping future practices in the field.
