The successful candidate for this position will primarily be working with students in the Senior Years (Years 10 – 12).
The Inclusion Support Assistant (ISA) plays a crucial role in fostering an inclusive learning environment for students from Transition to Year 12 at The Essington School.
The school, established in 1989, is non-denominational and co-educational, known for its commitment to high-quality education and innovative learning outcomes.
The Learning Enrichment and Advancement Pathways (LEAP) department at Essington aims to enable all pupils to achieve their academic potential, regardless of their learning need.
Key Responsibilities: Classroom and Student Support:Collaborate with teachers to assess and identify students needing support.Assist in the development and implementation of individual support plans.Promote a positive view of LEAP support and demonstrate a growth mindset.Provide in-class assistance and facilitate targeted intervention in literacy and numeracy.Foster a safe, respectful learning environment and build rapport with students.Support the implementation of Essington's Positive Behaviour for Learning approach.Perform student supervision duties.Data Collection:Understand NCCD evidence requirements and maintain detailed records for students.Monitor and evaluate student progress through observations.Teamwork and Collaboration:Work professionally with all members of the LEAP team and School staff.Cover for absent colleagues and participate in staff meetings and training.Seek advice from line managers and contribute positively to the school ethos.Operational Management:Adhere to the School's policies and procedures, including child protection.Maintain a professional attitude and comply with Workplace Health and Safety regulations.Selection Criteria: Strong planning and organisational skills.Excellent communication skills and proficiency in ICT.Experience working with students in the Senior Years (Year 10-12).Certificate III in Children's Services or related fields.First Aid Qualification.Personal Qualities: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain constructive relationships.Calm under pressure and a proactive approach to challenges.Commitment to the mission and values of The Essington School.Appointment Conditions: This is a casual position and is classified as an Inclusion Support Assistant under the School's Enterprise Agreement.
It is possible that this position will transition to a permanent role in the future.
Work hours are between the hours of 7:30am and 4pm, with rostered work hours dependent on the needs of the program and at the discretion of the Executive Team.
