Financial Markets (FM) delivers Debt Markets, Foreign Exchange and Commodities products and services to our core retail, corporate and institutional clients wherever they are located.
The team combines powerful market and industry insight with a deep understanding of our customers to create tailored solutions.
Financial Markets has teams located in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland, Singapore, London, Germany and New York.
As Senior Manager, FM Regulatory Operations, you will support the Financial Markets (FM) Regulatory Operations team providing First Line risk expertise.
Informally leading the activities of 3 people on a day-to-day basis, the team will benefit from your expertise in ensuring they are meeting their regulatory obligations.
Your G20 Derivatives Regulatory Knowledge (trading, clearing and risk mitigation) and commitment to uplifting and improving process and controls, including embracing new technologies will be highly desirable.
Your day to day, your responsibilities will include: Ensuring the execution of consistent and high quality of outputs across the various activities by you and the team Perform and oversee a number of key regulatory controls that meet obligations under ASIC/APRA/CFTC/EMIR/MIFID II and SOx, relating to but not limited to: CFTC External Business Conduct Risk Mitigation SOX – Segregation of Duties/Toxic Combination Market Misconduct / Conflicts of Interest Mandated On-venue execution and Clearing Determining if any exceptions need to be raised as potential compliance breaches Collaboration across the FM Value Chain covering engagement with FM business, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations and Technology Building and managing key stakeholder relationships at a senior level both internally and externally Working collaboratively with a diverse and globally spread team across multiple geographies and jurisdictions.

The role would be suited to a well tenured risk professional, with 5+ years' experience, and someone who naturally enjoys coaching and bringing others on the journey of change management, building enhanced risk awareness, and uplift in user capability.
This role will support aspirations of building people leadership skills to continue propelling your career long term within the Westpac Group.
You'll be set up for success in your transition to the role.
With a broader team of 27 globally based colleagues, you'll collaborate with your team in our Kent Street office to re-group and connect with project groups and stream stakeholders.

What do I need?
The ideal candidate should be adept at managing multiple and competing stakeholder interests and possess experience in supporting global operational risk obligations.
Further advantageous qualities and experience includes: FM and global derivatives exposures will enable you to have instant impact with understanding end-to-end trade lifecycle and diverse geographical jurisdictions, including European regulations, CFTC guidelines and trade reporting requirements Demonstrated experience in reviewing and challenging leaders with the confidence to voice opinions and hold the line Excellent verbal and written communication skills A pragmatic approach to problem solving with a simplicity and new ways of working overlay A strong and practical understanding of the end-to-end value chain of Financial Markets Experience in operational risk, compliance, audit, or advisory roles perhaps from a Big 4 consulting, or other regulated environment, with domestic or international exposures Relevant qualifications (risk, compliance or business-related).
