Lead Product Designer

Fleet Space Technology's key Product is Exosphere, a ground breaking development for critical mineral exploration that allows customers to see a 3D map of the underground using Ambient Noise Technology (ANT).
We are looking for a Lead Product Designer with experience and skills in 3D and AI product design to take our Product Design to the next level.You will be the sole designer to begin with and there could be growth in this team over the next 12-24 months, so you're a Lead of the Processes, Systems and hands on execution of the design work.We consider our current Design processes and system to be almost Greenfield, so someone is needed to come in and make sure we're asking customers the right questions, develop robust processes and scalable Design systems and libraries.
You will collaborate closely with our Product Managers, Product Analysts, and Data Science teams to create user-centric, breathtaking user interfaces.
Location: This role can be fully remote in Australia or hybrid in Adelaide, our HQ is in Adelaide and teams spread across Australia and the US who sometimes collaborate in person.

Imagine and bring to life a new generation of ML enabled capability in 3D space.Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and developers, to conceptualise and design user interfaces for ML enabled tools used in the mining and minerals industry.Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to illustrate design concepts and interactions, ensuring alignment with product requirements and user needs.Create something instantly recognisable for our global audience by establishing a design language for our platform and its widely circulated outputs.Envision transformative user experiences in an industry poised for UX disruption by creating new and intuitive ways to achieve complex outcomes for a sophisticated user base.Design intuitive and visually appealing data visualisations that effectively convey complex mining-related insights and machine learning outputs.Work closely with developers to ensure the successful implementation of UI designs and provide support throughout the development process.Conduct user research, interviews, and usability studies to understand user behaviour, needs, and pain points, and integrate findings into UI design decisions.Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers to bring ideas and concepts to life and validate them with our stakeholders, and align with our Account Managers on customer feedback and pain points.Assist in work packaging and communication with the development teams and technical leadership.Key Skills and experience:Proven experience (5+ years) as a UX Product Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful UI design projectsProficiency in designing for 3D user experiences, ideally with the ability to Design using 3D tools but we're agnostic on which toolsExperience designing AI products is highly desirableSolid understanding of data visualisation principles, data analytics concepts, and machine learning fundamentals.Proficiency in UI design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or similar softwareDetail-obsessedKnowledge of UX design methodologies and human-computer interaction principles.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Experience in conducting user research and usability testingCore ValuesThe Core Values at Fleet Space Technologies guide us to our North Star of ambitious, collaborative success - AD ASTRA ("To the Stars")Add Value: Obsessively add value for our customersDrive Excellence: Benchmark against the bestAgile Action: Take Action.
