GIS Analyst - ( 2500001L )DescriptionThe OpportunityWe are currently seeking a GIS Analyst with a proven track record of spatial analysis, data management, and remote sensing to support the GIS practice across the Western Australian region.
This position sits in Stantec's GIS and Spatial team, assisting with internal GIS support, data management and geospatial analysis on a range of mining-related projects.
These include environmental approvals, ecological surveys, mine closure and rehabilitation.The role is based in our Perth office, and we offer flexible work arrangements such as work from home, staggered hours and additional Purchased Leave.
Our supportive work environment allows you to tailor your career path ensuring planned investment into your training and development as well as access to long term career opportunities.Day to day tasks would involve:Participation in core spatial tasks such as production of cartographic figures, spatial database management, production and QAQC of spatial data deliverables, and provision of adhoc GIS support to Stantec staff.Assist on remote sensing projects, from proposal development, through to data acquisition, analysis and reporting.Collaborate, develop, and maintain field data collection techniques and schemas for field-based teams.Conduct in-depth spatial and temporal analysis to extract meaningful insights from environmental, remote sensing, and spatial datasets.Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to integrate geospatial solutions with other environmental projects.Building and maintaining internal and external client relationships on allocated projects and new opportunities.Stay up to date with the latest advancements in spatial data analyses and help contribute to research initiatives.To be successful for this role you'll need:EssentialDegree in Geographical Information Systems, Environmental Science or similar Tertiary Qualification with experience in GIS and spatial analysis.Knowledge and experience across ESRI Software Suite, including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and Survey123.Genuine interest and passion towards environmental and geospatial science.Ability to work across multiple projects/teams simultaneously, maintaining client and staff relationships while delivering work effectively and within time and budget constraints.Commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development.PreferredProgramming skills - proficiency in Python or R language.Experience in automation scripting including automated data ingestion using FME.Interest and experience in remote sensing applications – specifically machine learning, raster image processing, and spatial statistics.Strong commercial acumen and ability to seek out new business development opportunities.What we offerAlong with a competitive salary we offer many other benefits to ensure your professional development & wellbeing is ongoing including:Genuine Flexible Working Arrangements - Including work from home opportunities, provision for school term contracts, job sharing and part time employment.Option to purchase up to 4 weeks additional leave.Learning and Talent Development Programs - Including Global programmes, online learning and on-the-job learning.Mentoring for your own development and the opportunity to mentor others.A friendly team environment, with dedicated and enthusiastic staff committed to producing high quality service and deliverables.Professional Memberships.Salary Continuance Insurance (SCI).Mental Health and Wellbeing Programs.Service Recognition Awards.Employee Assistance Program.About StantecThe Stantec community unites approximately 31,000 employees working in over 450 locations across six continents.
