Full time Support the delivery of the Department's strategic actions under the Western Australia Climate Policy and the Climate Adaptation Strategy and assist with research and analysis to support the provision of fit for purpose and climate responsive land use planning and land use management policies.
As the Data Analyst Project Coordinator, you will provide technical support to the Climate Policy Team.
You will work with key internal and external stakeholders to support the development and implementation of the Unified Natural Hazard Risk Mitigation Exploratory Decision support system (UNHaRMED).
The role will oversee the collection and management of data required for UNHaRMED, as well as assist with developing and delivering end user training and supporting workshops for scenario planning regarding natural disasters and risks.
There is one permanent full-time opportunity available.
This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate: Demonstrated experience in the analysis and reporting of complex data, using data science techniques in a variety of contexts using relevant programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R), and software packages including Excel and Power BI.Demonstrated experience working with geospatial data, formats and services supporting the delivery of geospatial solutions, preferably within an ESRI ArcGIS environment.Experience in data modelling, analysis and visualisation platforms and processes, with the ability to communicate data analysis and geospatial and mapping processes and results to non-subject matter experts.Knowledge of current and emerging trends in natural hazards, climate risk, and/or land use and infrastructure development.Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem-solving ability within a complex and evolving technology and business environment, with the ability to address complex issues and concepts, and to interpret legislation and policy.Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context of Personal Leadership as outlined below.A tertiary qualification in spatial or data sciences or another relevant discipline is desirable.Benefits of Working at DPLH Access to flexible working arrangements including working from home or alternate work locations for enhanced work life balance.11.5% superannuation, full employer contribution and salary packaging options.Comprehensive learning and professional development opportunities.4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading paid as additional pay every December.3 days additional public sector holidays each year.Cultural leave for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.Leave for study, bereavement, foster caring and parenting.Free access to a confidential employee assistance program (EAP) for you and your family, which includes psychology and counselling services.How to apply: All applications are submitted online.
