This role may also be required to work out of St George Hospital, Kogarah from time to time.
What you'll be doing The Research Ethics and Governance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of all research activities within SESLHD.
This includes undertaking comprehensive governance responsibilities, such as conducting detailed Site-Specific Assessments (SSA) to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and alignment of proposed research projects with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Additionally, the officer provides vital ethics review and administrative support to the SESLHD Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).
This involves coordinating ethics submissions, facilitating thorough reviews of research proposals, and ensuring decisions are communicated effectively to stakeholders.
The officer also assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices to uphold ethical standards and regulatory compliance across all research activities.

Up to $9K for living expenses and $2.6K meal & entertainment & Novated Leasing.Discounted gym memberships with a Fitness Passport.Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for employees and family members.Discounted Private Health Insurance.Selection Criteria Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience in a previous research ethics or governance role.Demonstrated broad understanding of the health and medical research environment in NSW and Australia.Sound understanding of legislation, codes and guidelines relevant to research ethics and governance, in particular the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007), the Privacy Act (1988) and supplementary guidelines, the Human Tissue Act (1983) and the Therapeutic Goods Act (1989).Demonstrated ability to interpret legal documents and draft complex documents related to research activities.High level understanding of university, hospital and government research environments and processes.Highly developed and effective communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Demonstrated effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload to meet conflicting deadlines.Demonstrated experience in using Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel and Publisher), online databases for research data management and web-based applications.Need more information?
