It provides acute, sub-acute, primary, and community-based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding regions.
The Paediatric CMO position is a primarily clinical role with additional contributions to leadership and education.
The CMO is expected to provide support and supervision to the junior medical staff.
This includes administration/management duties, teaching, education and research, quality assurance and conflict resolution.
DUTIES Under limited direction of the Clinical Director, you will have the following responsibilities :
Clinical : Provide competent and efficient clinical management of infants, children and adolescents within the department of Paediatrics in both outpatient and inpatient settings under the supervision of a Consultant Paediatrician.Work within a multidisciplinary clinical team.Maintain adequate and legible medical records.Participate and contribute to the Department's teaching program.Complete hospital mandatory training in accordance with hospital guidelines.Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.Education / Research : Participate in ongoing professional development activities and encourage similar practices in departmental staff.Supervise, train and support the professional development of junior medical staff and medical students.Contribute to the research activities of the Hospital, including Journal Club.Support the education program for Junior Medical Staff including attending and participating in teaching and providing protected teaching time for junior staff.Clinical Leadership & Risk Management : Participate in clinical and/or organisational committees as determined by the Department Clinical Lead.Support the evaluation of Hospital Services in relation to present and future needs and make recommendations to the Department as appropriate.Comply with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and policies of the ACT Health Directorate.ABOUT YOU CHS is committed to workforce diversity and to creating an inclusive workplace.

Proven commitment to advanced clinical abilities and commitment in Paediatrics.Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, whilst providing leadership in clinical care, systems management and participating in the mandatory requirements of medical officers.Proven commitment to the maintenance and further development of skills applicable to the area of specialisation, including involvement in further education, professional development and quality assurance activities.Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, work, health, and safety (WH&S) and the positive patient experience.
