The increase of renewable energy and its unpredictability, operated by increasingly small actors, leads to high market volatility.
This volatility creates opportunities for energy traders.
The increase in energy storage systems such as batteries requires sophisticated, cost-effective mechanisms to provide economic returns while adhering to operational constraints.
These actors rely on efficient systems to operate.
If the system fails, a domino effect starts that could soon lead to big problems for companies and households.
Energy One is providing systems to a large share of the market, which makes it an essential actor in this global energy market.
In order to keep up with market trends (more actors, more traders and trades, more volatility), Energy One needs to provide the best platform, with reliable, scalable, secure, and agile foundations.
The Role Energy One is one of the leading development teams in Energy Market analytics.
As a highly competent Delphi developer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) and market analytics products as the energy industry rapidly transforms.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for clean and secure code and efficient architecture while solving complex challenges in a dynamic team.
You will work in a supportive and inclusive environment where your contributions are valued, and while prior experience in the energy industry is advantageous, we offer training to ensure you succeed in this role.
Key Challenges in the Role Complex Domain Knowledge : The energy trading and risk management (ETRM) domain is intricate, involving market regulations, trading strategies, and real-time data analysis.
Learning and applying this knowledge effectively is challenging and rewarding.
Scalability and Performance : As the volume of energy data increases, you will help ensure the applications scale effectively without performance degradation.
Optimizing SQL queries, data handling, and application architecture are ongoing challenges.
Integration with Modern Technologies : Integrating with cloud infrastructure, web services, and mobile interfaces will require continuous learning and adaptability.
Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications.
Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and distributed team members.
Ensure high-quality code adhering to established standards.
Participate in system analysis, proposing robust technical solutions.
Support customers and maintain production systems.
Required Experience 7+ years of commercial software development experience.
5+ years of expertise in Delphi and related frameworks (VCL, FMX, and third-party libraries).
Strong RDBMS and SQL experience.
A strong understanding of OOP.
Multi-threaded application development.
Solid design and architecture skills.
Energy or financial market background.
Familiarity with Node.js, cloud computing (AWS), and mobile app development.
Version control systems such as Git or Mercurial.
Exposure to tools like FinalBuilder and databases like SQL Server, MySQL, or MongoDB.
Work on critical systems used across Australia's energy industry.
