About the position
The Head of Department at MLC School is responsible for leading and coordinating innovative teaching programs aligned with the school's strategic goals.
This role involves tracking student progress, mentoring staff, and fostering a strong, ethical, and effective teaching team.
The Head of Department supports professional learning plans, builds team capacity, and promotes a culture that integrates academic progress, wellbeing, and spiritual development.
They play a key role in leading learning and partnering with parents to ensure every girl reaches her full potential.
As a Head of Department (Mathematics), you will hold accountability for ensuring that teaching programs delivered by the Department comply with: NSW Education Standards Authority requirements, International Baccalaureate requirements and the School's reporting requirements.
Selection Criteria:
Leading and supervising the development and implementation of the Department's teaching programs, confirming that they cater for the learning needs and wellbeing of all students.
Engaging collaboratively with other leaders of the Learning and Teaching team, teachers, and other learning specialists across the school to inform the development and implementation of teaching strategies that cater for individual learning styles and ability levels.
Planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that foster the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of students, confirming that the programs cater for the learning needs and wellbeing of all students.
Planning, designing, and delivering differentiated learning programs that address variations in learning styles and ability levels.
Incorporating the appropriate use of ICT and related technologies into your teaching practice to enhance student learning in the classroom.
Teaching Mathematics in line with the NSW Curriculum and supporting the MLC School girl to achieve outstanding results.
Delivering service excellence to parents and carers by proactively engaging with and responding promptly and courteously to enquiries and requests for information.
Ongoing development of classroom practice and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
Contributing to the 'whole girl' learning experience through your contribution to co-curricular programs.
Ongoing personal and professional development.
