The opportunity As a Disability Support Worker you will provide daily supports to individuals within Supported Independent Living Arrangements (SIL).
Using a strengths based approach, our workers help our participants to enhance their skills and independence and to reach their personal goals.
There is opportunity to join the Supports by Design team in casual or part-time employment.
Must have availability for sleepover and active night shifts.
Experience with behaviour support, PEG feeding, suctioning, epilepsy training and manual handling is highly desired.

What's on offer? Casual or part-time (minimum 20 hours per fortnight) employmentCasual base rate of $41.76 per hour, night shift base rate $46.77 per hour + super (10%)Part-time base hourly equivalent rate $37.35Receive specialised Maybo trainingRespectful, supportive and stable leadershipWork located throughout the Sunshine CoastFree access to the CALM Premium App and Flight Centre personal travel discountsAccess to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)A day in the role of a Disability Support Worker: Working with individuals to maintain personal care and cleanliness of the housePlanning and attending activities or appointmentsAssisting with skill development for independent living, recreation, learning, and community accessUsing daily routines to provide hands on training of life skills such as cooking, personal care and budgetingSupporting and managing individuals behaviours utilising Positive Behaviour Support PlansCompleting daily case notes, admin tasks and incident reportsSkills and requirements: Prior professional or lived experience supporting someone with a disabilityOR a genuine interest in entering the field of work and have completed or currently undertaking relevant studyEffective interpersonal communication skillsComputer proficiencySuitable availability to work on a rotating flexible roster (may include a combination of day, afternoon and active night, sleepovers and weekend shifts) OR active overnight shift timesAbility to meet the physical requirements of the job that may include manual handling tasksAuslan skills are desirable, though not necessaryMust hold or be willing to obtain if successful: Qld Paid Workers Blue Card (Working with Children Check)NDIS Workers Screening Check (or Yellow Card)Child Safety Personal History Check (LCS2)National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems)Current First Aid CertificateCurrent Qld Drivers Licence and willingness to use own vehicle (if required) with comprehensive insuranceIf you would like further information on this role, please call and ask to speak to Ameena in the Recruitment team.
