Senior Manager - Economic AnalysisReserve Bank of Australia, Sydney, Australia
The Economic Analysis Department, within the Bank's Economic Group, is seeking a senior manager to co-lead the Structural Analysis and Macroeconomic Modelling (SAMM) section. This is an exciting time to join SAMM as the section further develops the Bank's macromodelling, forecasting and scenario analysis capabilities in response to the RBA Review.
In this leadership role you and your team will make a key contribution to the monetary policy process, helping shape the Bank's evolving understanding of economic developments and risks and providing important inputs to the Bank's analysis of monetary strategy. The role As part of the senior leadership team in Economic Analysis, you will co-lead SAMM, overseeing the direction of modelling and scenario work, while leading and developing individuals and teams within the section.
You will work with a co-Senior Manager and a team of three Managers and 6 analysts to help shape the Department's modelling agenda, and guide work that will feed into the monetary policy process, Board papers and public documents.
Together with the co-Senior Manager you will:
Effectively plan, implement and monitor progress of the team's strategic agenda in line with the priorities of the Department and the Bank;Work with, develop, and guide the development of macroeconometric models;Provide economic and/or technical advice that supports the monetary policy decisions of the Board and contributes to the Bank and Economic Group meeting its strategic goals;Communicate effectively to relevant internal and external decision-makers, stakeholders and other audiences in support of the Bank's functions and objectives.This role provides an opportunity to build your leadership capabilities, while making use of your technical skillset.
You will coach and provide development opportunities for your team to achieve the strategic agenda of the section, engage with senior executives and work collaboratively with policy teams across the Bank. What we are looking for We are looking for a passionate and experienced senior manager with a combination of technical and leadership skills.
You will have experience in leading, developing and motivating a high-performing team, as well as demonstrated experience of developing and executing strategy.
To be successful in this critical role you will have demonstrated: The ability to lead a team to produce high-quality briefings and analysis on a wide range of topics, often with limited time;The ability to provide strategic direction, set and deliver a forward work agenda, and prioritise across competing demands;Significant capability and experience in macroeconometric model development, and an ability to work through, and provide guidance on, a wide range of technical modelling challenges;Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with an ability to describe technical content to senior staff, draft documents for policymakers and the public, and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the Bank.Next steps Applications close on Friday 25th October 2024.
