As the national governing body, Basketball Australia (BA), in conjunction with our State & Territory member associations, is at the forefront of promoting, fostering, and developing the sport of basketball across the country.
BA is responsible for safeguarding the sport in Australia.

This mission of Australian Basketball is to be "Everybody's Game" and BA will lead, connect and enhance the experience of the Australian basketball community.
BA proudly manages Australian national teams (Boomers & Opals, Rollers & Gliders, men's and women's 3x3 and junior national teams), athlete pathways, the Centre of Excellence facility, national championship events, major international events and leads community programs for the good of the whole sport.
We are excited to be launching the new Basketball Australia Strategic Plan (2025-2028), the Whole of Sport Basketball 2040 Vision and refreshed BA Values.
These critical foundations, along with our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) (2024-2026), and BA's Women & Girls Strategy will set our direction and represent how we will bring our mission to life.
Chief Commercial Officer As we continue to elevate our game, both on and off the court, and strive to meet the Whole of Sport Basketball 2040 Vision we are seeking a visionary Chief Commercial Officer to set and drive BA's commercial growth and solidify basketball's position as a leading sport nationally and globally.
As Chief Commercial Officer, you will drive the commercial strategy, maximizing revenue opportunities and strengthening brand partnerships.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this critical executive role will focus on building sustainable revenue streams across all platforms.
This success of this role will be crucial in delivering the objectives of the BA Strategic Plan (2025-2028) and the Whole of Sport Basketball 2040 Vision.
This role is full time, and ideally based in Melbourne, reporting to the CEO.
The role will require domestic and may also require limited international travel and given the nature of the industry some weekend work may be required.
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute Basketball Australia's commercial strategy to drive revenue growth.Develop supporting strategic sales plans and activities to meet and exceed commercial revenue targets.Identify and secure sponsorships, partnerships, and other strategic alliances to maximise commercial value.Collaborate with marketing and digital teams to grow fan engagement and deliver exceptional customer experiences.Engage in high level strategic stakeholder management to represent BA, the whole of sport with stakeholders internal and external who have the ability to impact the sport direction and future prospects.Champion the sport of Basketball externally to potential and current partners, external stakeholder and represent BA proudly, with confidence and conviction.Work closely with the Chief Marketing & Engagement Officer and the GM Government & International Relations and key BA product leaders to maximise commercial opportunities aligned to the strategic objectives.Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate sponsors, media partners, and stakeholders.Conceptualise and execute strategic commercial opportunities for BA products and assets.Provide strategic insights in relation to commercial engagement of the sport nationally and internationally to the CEO and leadership team that enables strategic business decision making in this strategic plan and the next plan.Successfully negotiate commercial contracts at the highest level including with key stakeholders such as the Australian Basketball Players Association.Provision of high level reporting and recommendations to the Board using data driven analysis as required to assist with strategic decision making.Be a high-level contributor to all of business strategic initiatives and activities that drive overall business results and success.Qualifications, Capability and Experience Relevant tertiary or post tertiary qualifications, sales, or similar.Senior leadership experience in a comparable role preferably in sports.Demonstrated success in setting the strategic business direction and establishing effective commercial strategies that achieves an organisations vision in a complex stakeholder environment.Technical expertise and leadership across commercial, sponsorship and licensing.Proven influencer in the commercial environment working in a complex multi stakeholder, environment.An exceptional influencer.Proven contemporary people and function leader.You must be an Australian Citizen or a Permanent Resident to make application.You must hold a current Working with Vulnerable People Children clearance.How to apply Apply for this role via this platform.
