The Aviation Business Manager supports the General Managers of Aviation and the Leadership team with strategic and operational planning and decision-making.
This role also contributes to business improvement initiatives through evidence-based research, analysis, and contemporary business advice.
You will have the ability to influence and guide leaders and be comfortable working in a role that blends strategy with operational delivery and flexing between the two as the business requires.
Key accountabilities include: Develop annual operational and capex budgets for the aviation cohortOngoing monitoring of the budget and management of expenditures including pilot staffingDevelop and produce business performance reportsDevelop business cases with input from the General Managers of AviationPlan, minute and facilitate action items that arise from Aviation Team meetingsAct as a key executive-level contact for internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Aviation General ManagersDevelop, implement, and evaluate business practices, systems, and procedures within aviationTake an active role in project management and the monitoring of outcomes across major projects and initiativesWho are we looking for? You will have proven project management experience, as well as budgeting and finance experience, ideally within aviation or related industry sector.
You will be confident in your relationship-building skills and proactive with business and process improvements.
You will demonstrate: Formal qualification in Business Management, Project Management, or Commerce or a related fieldKnowledge of, and experience in, financial planning and management (including budget preparation and management)Experience in developing and implementing organisational strategies to enhance operational performanceHigh-level communications skills, with demonstrated capability to effectively interact with executive leaders across the organisation and external stakeholdersSuperior level of written communication including correspondence, report writing and presentation draftingGood understanding of research methods and data analysis techniquesHigh-level project management skills with an ability to apply these skills to deliver outputs and business benefitsHighly developed organisational and time management skills; high level of initiative and problem-solvingWhy Join the RFDS (Queensland Section) At RFDS (Queensland Section), we are deeply committed to positively impacting those who reside, work, and commute in remote, rural, and regional areas of Queensland.

The RFDS in Queensland provides excellence in and access to primary health care and aeromedical services across the state.
Our emergency retrieval service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, delivering the finest care to more than 330,000 Australians annually, that's one person every two minutes
In addition to aeromedical retrievals of the critically ill or injured, the RFDS also delivers a broad range of essential primary and preventative healthcare services, including telehealth, mental health, oral health and health promotion.
