About the business and role SLR Consulting is a rapidly growing professional services consultancy with over 3,000 multi-discipline consultants across Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe and North America, and 750 staff in APAC.
Due to our continued growth and expanding project pipeline, there is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Urban Planner to join our APAC Planning team in Townsville.
Our team is made up of a group of highly skilled and motivated Planners with an enthusiastic approach to life and work.
We currently service a pipeline of energy transition, renewable energy, industrial, commercial and health projects.
In our Townsville team you will work closely with a highly experienced Principal Planner, as well as the wider national Planning team in Brisbane, Newcastle, and Melbourne.
Our Townsville team are a tight-knit group of multidisciplinary experts in their field, who also happen to be down to earth, supportive and fun to be around.

Key Responsibilities Planning analysis and research and confident in delivering exceptional resultsManaging projects without direct supervision (or working towards)Compiling large project packages for statutory approvals and permitsPreparing feasibility reports and due diligence adviceBriefing and managing specialist subcontractorsBusiness development and high-level client relationship managementSkills and experience A degree in town planning (Bachelors minimum, Masters advantageous)2-8 years working experience, preferably within a consulting business, with direct experience in town planning, property and development.Excellent report writing skillsAbility to work across multiple sectors, predominantly Infrastructure, Renewables & Energy TransitionStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to function effectively within a high performing teamBenefits Hybrid work model (in-office & from home) - you choose where you work best.Extra paid purchased leave up to 10 days so you can re-energize, help others, support family, or focus on your own professional development.Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents throughout their parenting journey which includes 14 weeks primary carer and 6 weeks secondary carer leave (with the option to access an additional 8 weeks of leave if you become the primary carer before your child turns one).Learning and development which includes a mapped career progression path, study assistance and up to 3 professional memberships subsidised by SLR.Employee Assistance Program to support your physical, mental, and social wellbeing.Global and regional mobility and recruitment referral bonus for both region and global candidates.This is an incredible opportunity to join a global consultancy with significant reach, whilst being able to live and play in the Townsville area.
