DescriptionOutward Bound Australia is recruiting Group Leaders for a January 2024 start
Group Leaders are responsible for the facilitation of safe and high-quality outdoor education programs.
These programs vary in their length, location, type, and client groups.
Outward Bound Australia delivers journey-based outdoor education programs in the ACT, Victoria, NSW, and WA.
Outward Bound also delivers centre-based programs out of its National Base, the Tharwa Campus.
Working with Outward Bound is the ultimate outdoor adventure
It offers industry-leading professional development and a variety of contracts with great working conditions.
Skills and Experience Desired Cert IV in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent - with the following electives preferred: bushwalking, abseil, top-rope climbing, high ropes elements, canoeing, rafting, mountain bikingCurrent Wilderness First Aid and CPRManual driving license, unrestricted (preferred but not essential)Bronze medallion (preferred but not essential)Experience with client groups to deliver technical outdoor activitiesExperience working with client groups to deliver facilitated activities and outcomes supported by outdoor activitiesExperience in leading and facilitating multi-day expedition programsRole TypePay Rate52482.27 AUD - 54482.27 AUD (Annum)
Company OverviewOutward Bound Australia (OBA) was established in 1956 and has a proud history of delivering outdoor education programs.
Outward Bound programs provide inspiring and challenging experiences in the outdoors to help people with character development, relationships with others, and an appreciation of our natural environment.
Since its inception, OBA has delivered programs to around half a million Australians – significantly impacting many lives and creating a passionate community of alumni.
Outward Bound Australia is a member of the Outward Bound International network, the most experienced provider of outdoor programs in the world.
Founded in 1941 in the UK and based on the personal development principles and values of Kurt Hahn (who also designed the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme), Outward Bound has since spread to over 37 schools in 34 countries and 6 continents.
OBA's activities are centred on the national base in Tharwa, ACT.
In recent years, operational areas also include the Snowy Mountains area of Victoria and Walpole in Southwestern WA.
OBA also undertakes philanthropic endeavours through the Australian Outward Bound Development Fund (AOBDF) to provide disadvantaged Australians with opportunities to participate in OBA programs.
