Head of Government & Australian Rugby Foundation Reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs, this role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overseeing the day-to-day operational management of Government Relations and the Australian Rugby Foundation (ARF); which is the national fund-raising body for Rugby in Australia.

The ARF's mission is to enhance the long-term competitiveness of Australia rugby by raising funds primarily designed to drive participation, high performance, and talent retention.

Key Accountabilities:
Government Relations
Stakeholder Management: Build influential and long-term partnerships/relationships with a range of external government stakeholders, advocacy groups, community organisations, Rugby bodies, and non-for-profits that enhance the strategic goals of Rugby Australia's (RA) and align with the Strategic Plan.
Strategy: Develop strategies to pursue funding for Rugby Australia's departments and programs, Super Rugby Teams and Member Unions.
Lead strategic projects as needed.
Provide advice to ExCo and the Rugby Australia Board on Rugby Australia's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Operational: Advise and work with RA departments, Super Rugby Teams and Member Unions on interactions and revenue opportunities within government.
Manage internal and external communications in relation to this area, through a variety of media outlets, ensuring message continuity.
Lead, develop and coordinate responses to government grants, funding submissions, reviews and inquiries.
Research and monitor relevant legislation and track happenings within the government that could affect rugby union within Australia.
Proactively research policies to see what changes advantageous and which trends might negatively impact rugby union in Australia in the future.
Develop and implement Rugby Australia's Parliamentary Friends of Rugby Groups.
Manage Rugby Australia's CSR activities.
Work with Rugby Australia departments, Super Rugby Teams and Member Unions to apply for funding from government bodies.
Prepare reports and presentations on policy trends to be delivered to Rugby Australia staff, Super Rugby Team staff and Member Unions.
Write talking points for the media in this area of expertise.
Represent Rugby Australia at events and forums.
Assist with key Government and Ministerial engagement as required.
Foundation
Responsible for the leadership, development and implementation of all strategies and activities including memberships, events, trusts and foundations and government grants.
Operational: Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the ARF including stakeholder engagement.
Successful execution of business plans and fund-raising budgets.
Lead and drive fund raising with support from ARF Directors.
Delivery of the 'Programs' to existing and potential donors.
Lead, develop and implement all ancillary activities and events that support the Programs.
Driving the promotion of the ARF.
Management of the existing donor base.
Identification and development of potential contributors and members.
Management of ARF's recognition and travel programs.
Oversight of ARF's international event schedule.
Assistance with developing lasting and meaningful relationships with a diverse donor base and other Rugby stakeholders.
Administrative components of the ARF include reporting to the board of directors and financial management, including leading business plans, budgets and reporting.
Promotion of the Programs to donors and stakeholders.
Skills, Experience & Qualification Requirement:
Qualification Requirements: University degree in relevant discipline.

Experience: Previous experience working in government or in a government relations role preferred.
Previous experience working in a fund raising/foundation role desirable.
