About The Role Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare.
It remains one of the nation's most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
The Upper Gastrointestinal Research Officer is an integral member of the research team within the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe), RPA Institute of Academic Surgery (IAS) and the Upper Gastrointestinal Department at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.
Under the guidance of the SOuRCe and IAS Directors, they will help undertake research activities related to multiple projects involving the Upper Gastrointestinal Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
This primarily includes the development and maintenance of the Upper Gastrointestinal database, study protocol development, protocol implementation, ethics submission, project management, patient recruitment and consenting.
The successful candidate must have very strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to work both independently and in a team.
The successful candidate will be supported by the Upper Gastrointestinal Department at RPA and will work closely with other employees in a multi-disciplinary team.

Ideal Candidate Relevant post-graduate qualifications and/or equivalent experience in epidemiology and research study management.
Experience in preparing research ethics applications and sound understanding of the research ethics and governance processes in NSW.
Sound written skills and understanding of quantitative and qualitative clinical/public health/health services research, including database management, basic statistical analysis skills, and report writing.
