As the College grows, we will offer additional subjects, including Music and Food Studies, as well as extension opportunities such as Advanced Maths, Literature, and Physics.
We offer a select entry High Achiever Program that challenges and supports high achievers to excel, providing unique accelerated opportunities in VCE.
As a supported inclusion school, Clyde Secondary College is designed to support a higher number of students with disabilities than a typical mainstream school, with facilities that enhance learning.
The College has the following facilities:
An administration and learning resource center buildingTwo learning neighborhood buildingsA Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics buildingA visual arts buildingA Performing Arts and Physical Education building, including an indoor multi-courtLandscaped outdoor play and learning areasThe school has an initial capacity for 575 students, with up to 50 students meeting the requirements for the specialist enrolment policy. Upon completion of stage two, the capacity will increase to 1300 students.
Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated high level of knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills and respond to student learning needs.
SC2: Demonstrated ability to plan and implement high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact on student learning growth.
SC3: Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback on student growth and achievement.
SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges: range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students.
As teachers gain experience, their contributions to the school program increase. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties.
Classroom Teacher Range 2: Range 2 teachers assist in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to the development and implementation of school policies.
Expectations for Range 2 teachers include:
Meeting the diverse needs of all studentsModeling exemplary classroom practice and mentoring other teachersProviding expert advice about content and strategies for professional learningSupervising and training student teachersAssisting staff to use student data to inform teaching approachesClassroom Teacher Range 1: Focuses on developing skills to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support, teaching a range of students/classes, and participating in policy development and implementation.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher includes but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual studentsContributing to curriculum development, implementation, and evaluationUndertaking classroom teaching-related and organizational duties as determined by the School PrincipalParticipating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursionsUndertaking non-teaching supervisory dutiesWho May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
