Business Development Manager

Empower Energy is changing the residential renewable energy landscape in Australia via its industry leading solar-battery product, energy optimisation and VPP software.
This is a rare opportunity - we are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to establish the ElektroBank as the leading mass-market energy storage solution.
This role will establish and nurture our strategic business partners across solar-battery retail sales, installation, after-sales support, and VPP operation.
The role: Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will develop and implement our go-to-market (GTM) strategy including partnering, direct sales and strategy for installation, service and VPPs.
It will own our partnering strategy (excl.
manufacturing), its performance and our partner experience as well as direct sales.
Ultimately, this role will serve as the bridge between our key business partners, customers and the business.
The main tasks in this role are:
Become an expert in Empower's products and services, as well as the ecosystem that they serve, including current and potential sales channels.Support the Sales and Marketing Strategy, which informs the Strategic Partnering Strategy.Develop and manage our Strategic Partnering Strategy (the Strategy), which will identify the key partnering strategies and plans for achieving business plan, and sales and marketing plan outcomes.Identify, educate, recruit, and onboard strategic partners per the Strategy across solar-battery retailers, property developers, distribution networks, VPP operators, solar-battery installers and grant agencies.Responsible for all aspects of successfully closing strategic deals between partners including development of key terms such as incentives to achieve product and service sales targets.Responsible for project development with strategic partners, including Government grant agencies, to drive strategic R&D projects in collaboration with R&D.Responsible for the performance of partners against our partnering and sales and marketing strategies, as well as the business partner incentives, experience and satisfaction levels.Responsible for attending industry forums, developing relationships with attendees and coordinating response to key consultations in collaboration with the Product Manager.The ideal candidate: Be a self-starter who can explore and qualify opportunities with little direction.Proven track record in sales channel development and managing B2B sales pipelines.Experience working in the solar-battery, rooftop solar PV or whitegoods spaces.Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.Deep understanding of energy industry; knowledge of energy storage technology and/or solar is a plus.Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Marketing or Engineering.The role requires a high level of teamwork, written communication and problem solving but primarily a willingness to develop and become a vital role in a dynamic startup with big ambitions.
