The Opportunity The Senior Environmental Advisor South Australia (SA) role is focused on leading and managing environmental programs to minimize the organization's environmental impact.
The position involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, including planning, licensing, and environmental approvals, while overseeing programs related to water, wastewater, waste, air quality, energy, noise, soil, and pollution reduction.
The Senior Environmental Advisor will also be responsible for supporting and driving environmental focused sustainability initiatives, improving environmental procedural documentation and performance, and ensuring that environmental strategies align with broader organizational goals.
A key part of the role is implementing and measuring the success of these environmental programs, ensuring they are integrated into site operations and that regulatory obligations are consistently met.
The Senior Environmental Advisor will also lead risk management efforts and play a significant role in community engagement, ensuring that stakeholders are kept informed about the organization's environmental impact and actions.
In addition to technical expertise in environmental management, the position requires strong leadership skills to help guide operational teams, collaborate and support other TFI departments, and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Based out of our Adelaide office in Rose Park, you will be responsible for traveling to different sites as part of your role.
Key Responsibilities Provide quality technical support for the General Manager Environment & Sustainability, General Manager Operations and Plant Managers at all times;Ensure all TFI licensed and unlicensed activities undertaken in South Australia are managed in accordance with relevant environmental regulatory requirements and government legislation;Conduct regular environmental site inspections and compliance audits for all licensed sites to ensure strict adherence to regulatory compliance requirements;Develop internal environmental procedural documentation to support site processes and compliance actions as required;Contribute to ongoing environmental reporting commitments and associated deadlines;Provide ongoing technical oversight and management support of all EPA licensed wastewater treatment facilities across the Lobethal and Murray Bridge processing facilities;National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) reporting;National Greenhouse & Energy Reporting (NGER);Other technical reports (i.e., wastewater, groundwater, and soil reporting).Qualifications & Experience Tertiary qualifications and demonstrated skills in environmental science/engineering or a suitably related field, and/or significant equivalent competencies gained through experience in these fields;Significant experience in undertaking environmental audits and site inspections;Strong understanding and experience in administration of relevant environmental legislation including the Environment Protection Act 1993 and supporting regulations;Strong understanding of Local, State, and Federal regulatory approval pathways and environmental frameworks;Significant experience with environmental data analysis, reporting, and presentation;Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, tasks, and deliver projects to agreed timelines;Oversee engagement and ongoing management of engineering and environmental consultants when specialty technical services are required (i.e., wastewater, biogas, groundwater, soil, and noise/odour assessments);Provide management support and project management of any small scale capital projects relating to the environment function. #J-18808-Ljbffr
