Hey there, we're BlackMilk —an authentic, high-energy brand from Brisbane, disrupting the alternative pop fashion scene since 2009.
We exist to amplify the voices of those who refuse to be labeled, empowering you to express your truest self through fashion.
Our journey began at a kitchen table with a few dollars and a whole lot of passion.
Who knew that killer prints on leggings could be the start of a cult-like following?

Fast forward to today: we've got over 50 talented team members, epic collaborations with icons like Pokémon, Netflix, Warner Brothers, and Nintendo, 1.1M followers on Instagram, and the most passionate community in existence
15 years on (and counting), we're still throwing down fresh and innovative designs that celebrate individuality and bring self-expression to life.
The process of bringing our clothing to market is pure magic.
We produce some pieces right here in our Brisbane HQ, allowing our team to experience the entire process—from design to production to eCommerce.
This end-to-end approach has opened doors for many of our team members to explore new career paths and pivot career directions.
A bit about the role…As the Head of Marketing for BlackMilk, you'll lead our brand, marketing, eCommerce, and community engagement strategies.
You'll unite the community, content, eCommerce, and digital marketing teams to grow and nurture our brand and its community.
This role is essential for ensuring our brand resonates emotionally with customers, driving online sales and fostering a loyal and engaged Sharkie (our customer community).
As a storytelling brand with a fun and playful personality, this role is truly unique.
This is a big gig, but to break it down, here are some of the key deliverables:
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and brand strategies that connect with our passionate Sharkie community worldwide.Work closely with various teams to align marketing efforts across all channels, both online and offline.Drive our social media strategy, nurturing our vibrant Sharkie community—think of yourself as the head cheerleaderCreate and implement unique, engaging campaigns that reflect our playful nature.Develop programs to enhance the brand's presence in key international markets.Ensure a mix of above and below the line activities that support brand awareness, customer acquisition, and retention aligned with company goals.Oversee product marketing initiatives, crafting creative launches and messaging that resonate emotionally with our community.Champion the brand by maintaining consistency and integrity across all touch points.Analyse trends, consumer insights, and the competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and ways to differentiate.Cultivate a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation within the marketing team, providing mentorship to support their growth.Develop and manage marketing budgets, allocating resources effectively to meet business objectives.Measure and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, using data-driven insights to optimize performance and ROI.Work with other leadership members to ensure marketing strategies align with overall business objectives, keeping community engagement central to decision-making.A bit about you…You're a seasoned marketer, who loves building communities and brands that people adore.
You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have a strong history of driving solid marketing outcomes.
As a strategic thinker, you can turn insights into actionable plans, fully grasping the role of social media in brand building.
Your curiosity drives your work, and you're not afraid to ask the tough questions that others might overlook.
Ideally you'll have:
A solid background in product marketing within the eCommerce sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing brand and eCommerce functions.
Global experience is a plus.Strong abilities in strategic planning, brand management, and digital marketing.Capability to extract strategic insights from data and campaign performance to fuel continuous improvement.A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams while fostering a creative and collaborative culture.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.Demonstrated experience in building and managing large social media followings, nurturing a community with a history of increasing engagement and driving sales through social channels.An ability to think outside the box and develop creative marketing strategies that resonate with our unique audience.A genuine enthusiasm for fashion and community engagement, with an understanding of BlackMilk's brand values and the Sharkie community.Why Work with Us?We are a values-driven, socially inclusive, and supportive organisation, and as a way to say thank you for the energy, effort, and results our people deliver, we offer the following perks to our team:
