Teaching - Secondary (Education & Training)The PositionThe Moreton Bay College is seeking a Secondary Teacher to fulfil the role of Head of House.
Commencing in January 2025.

The Head of House (HOH) position is a significant middle management position.
All teachers are appointed by CEO and Executive Principal, but the HOH is immediately responsible to the Deputy Head of Secondary (Students) and works as an integral pastoral team member with the other three Heads of House, College Chaplain, Head of Secondary and Secondary Counsellors.

The College offers a very broad programme in sporting, musical and pastoral activities.
Due to the nature of the HOH role, there is an expectation of participation and support of co-curricular contributions of the College.

All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church day school for girls from PP-12.

The Head of House RoleHeads of House have a vital leadership role and are influential in enhancing the College culture.
They are responsible for the implementation of initiatives that will impact positively on the College community and on the development of quality relationships.

Heads of House are well placed to interpret the College vision and mission statement and it is expected that Heads of House are role models and examples to all members of the College in their behaviour, demeanor, attitude and practices.
They are pivotal in the communication between the College Secondary Leadership Team, staff, students and parents.

To nurture quality relationships in the House system, Heads of House must have a knowledge and understanding of the school and the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe duties and responsibilities of Head of House include:Wellbeing of students in the House.Daily organisation and administration of the House.Responsibility for quality parent/College partnerships.Working co-operatively with all members of the Pastoral Team.Involvement in personal professional development and in the provision of on-going professional development for House staff.Planning and organisation of House activities, functions and service learning.Management of the House budget.Promotion and integration of the College's Hearts and Mind Wellbeing Framework through the House system.Promotion and integration of the College's Teaching and Learning Approach through the House system.The Head of House is responsible for student management byBeing the first point of contact for parents and the management of all pastoral matters relating to students in the House.Knowing each student in his/her House well enough to guide and support the student's holistic development, according to the College vision.Communicating regularly with all parents about their daughter's progress and achievement.Supporting and enforcing College expectations in regard to presentation and the Positive Behaviours Policy.Maintaining accurate record keeping of student information in regard to involvement in House life and pastoral issues.Monitoring student attendance at the College.Organising and monitoring the transition of Year 7 and all new students in the House.Overseeing the pastoral reporting process and ensuring high quality documentation is produced.Leadership of, and participation in, the College Camp Program.The Head of House is responsible for staff management byWorking co-operatively with all College staff to support the pastoral care of all members of the House.Monitoring the performance of Form teachers in the House.The induction of new staff.Chairing House Staff Meetings.The Head of House is responsible for the organisation and administration ofHouse competitions and functions.A House Chapel ServiceA House Service activity or initiative.The selection of House Captains in partnership with the Secondary Leadership Team.The selection and training of the Year 11 Inter Year Carers in partnership with the Deputy Head of Secondary (Students).The Head of House is required to attend:Relevant Parent Information Evenings and formal parent welcome functions.Camps, Year 7 Orientation Evening, Year 7 Connect 4 Day, the Year 11 Semi Formal, the Senior Formal and Valedictory celebrations.SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The Head of House needs to role model the 4 College values at all times, have the capacity to inspire and motivate other people and demonstrate clarity of purpose, vision and commitment in relation to the pastoral care of adolescent girls.
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in:The pastoral care of girls (Years 7 – 12).Deep understanding of, and commitment to, restorative practice.Knowledge of the Hearts and Minds Wellbeing Framework and a commitment to embedding it in House life.Knowledge of the Positive Minds Programme and an understanding of the role it plays in students' holistic education.Knowledge and implementation of key pastoral policies.High level of communication skills and positive relationships with staff, students and parents.Encouraging, organising and assisting student involvement in academic, spiritual, co-curricular and social aspects of College life.A high level of commitment to the broader College program including co-curricular activities.Support for staff professional development of teachers within the House.The teaching of specific curriculum area(s) with associated current classroom pedagogy and in alignment with the Moreton Bay College Teaching and Learning Approach.Desirable Personal QualitiesThe Head of House should:Have a friendly demeanor and be empathetic to the needs of adolescent girls.Have a positive impact on others.Role model the College valuesBe accessible and approachable to parents of students in the House.Demonstrate loyalty to students, staff, and the College.Have the capacity to work in either an independent or team situation.Value a partnership arrangement with families of the College in seeking the best outcome for each student.Have well-developed IT skills especially in areas of web-based activities and be able to use email, and the Microsoft suite of applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams).SELECTION CRITERIA

Demonstrated ability to use evidence-based practice to provide a positive and stimulating pastoral environment that results in improved outcomes for students.SC2

Demonstrated ability to lead and design quality pastoral programmes informed by data, pastoral knowledge, gender appropriate pedagogy and student wellbeing.SC3

Educational leadership skills to build the capacity of individuals and teams in a changing educational environment including those pertinent to restorative practice and wellbeing education.SC4

Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to develop and sustain productive relationships with students, staff and parents.SC5

Demonstrated ability to implement processes, structures, resources (human, physical) and documentation to ensure students, staff and families are informed and supported.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEMinimum: Education Diploma or Education Degree in relevant curriculum area.Should preferably have experience teaching in Queensland schools or an understanding of the Queensland system.Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.Current First Aid and CPR certificates are required and must be kept up to date.CONDITIONS AND SALARYThis is a Full-time role with the Teacher base salary to be classified based on experience on appointment as per the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.This position will also attract a Secondary PAR Level 2 allocation as per the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.Tenure: PAR positions are appointed for five years, with the possibility of extension for a further five years, subject to satisfactory annual performance appraisals.The College operates a 2 week cycle.Sick Leave entitlement of 10 days annually.Long Service Leave entitlement of 1.3 weeks for each year of service, which can be taken after 7 years.The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee.APPLICATION
