Position Overview The Head of House role will monitor the academic, cultural, social and physical welfare and development of the students in Thomas House.
The Head of House role will assist the Heads of School, the Dean of Teaching and Learning, Director of Wellbeing and Pastoral Programmes (5-12) and other College Leadership Team members in pastoral, academic, administrative, disciplinary, and counselling roles.

The ideal candidate for this role will have the ability to develop inclusive and supportive learning environments, foster positive relationships and communicate with staff, students, and parents in a timely and respectful manner.

As the successful candidate you will: Implement effective and adaptive teaching practices that foster positive relationships with students and colleagues, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Develop and maintain a dynamic, student-centered classroom that aligns with relevant educational policies and practices.
Support the academic and personal growth of students throughout their journey at the College, ensuring they reach their full potential.
Monitor student progress and attendance, providing timely interventions to address individual needs.
Build and nurture strong pastoral care connections that promote students' character, spiritual, and moral development.
Actively participate in co-curricular activities and community events to enhance student engagement and foster a sense of belonging.
Provide effective pastoral leadership by collaborating with school leadership to implement behaviour management and restorative practices that promote a positive school culture.
Oversee the holistic development of students within your house, addressing both academic and personal concerns.
Facilitate open communication with parents and/or guardians regarding their children's wellbeing and academic progress, fostering a supportive partnership.
Coordinate pastoral care activities and assist in the orientation of new students, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported.
Actively lead and engage in the school community, embodying and promoting the College's mission and values.
Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to staff development in pastoral care and wellbeing initiatives.
Foster a culture of collaboration among staff, supporting professional growth and leading professional development opportunities for staff based on identified needs, to promote a culture of learning.
Collaborate with other leaders to drive initiatives that enhance educational practices and improve student outcomes.
Stay informed about emerging trends in education, safety, and wellbeing to continually enhance school operations.
Analyse student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, ensuring data driven decision making and targeted support for student success.
Prepare comprehensive reports on academic and pastoral performance, utilising data to inform decisions and strategies.
Support the sacramental, liturgical, ritual, and prayer life of the College, ensuring that the teachings, values, and practices of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.
Be a visible leader, driving continuous improvement strategies within the educational environment and promoting a culture of learning and professional development.

To be considered for this role, you must have: Relevant Qualifications (bachelor's degree or higher in education) and current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
Demonstrated educational leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with students, parents, and staff, alongside a commitment to supporting students' social and emotional wellbeing.
Proficiency in using a range of information communications technology skills (e.g., Microsoft Teams, supporting students' use of technology to access curriculum).
Ability to work autonomously, while inspiring and motivating students in a progressive learning environment to prepare them for the future.
Commitment to Catholic education, philosophy, and practice, with a willingness to participate in the College's co-curricular program and attend camps as directed.
