The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of General Medicine is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Head of Department – General Medicine position.
We seek an experienced and enthusiastic Staff Specialist passionate about practicing holistic general medicine, leading and mentoring medical staff, and contributing to quality improvement in a growing general medicine department.

As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.

General medicine is the largest inpatient department in the hospital with excellent subspecialty support and opportunities for clinicians to be involved in research, clinical redesign, and quality improvement.
Staff specialists are actively involved in the training of basic and advanced physician trainees and the supervision of international medical graduates.

Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Details of Appointment: Fixed term, part time Day work (with on-call), working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 3 years.Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to undertake a minimum of 19 hours per fortnight in clinical work with the option of increasing up to 38 hours.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Minimum Requirements: Holds specialist registration.Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway.Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty.The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
