Pm Operations Manager

XL Express is a leading privately owned national road express transport company that provides national distribution services to large blue-chip clients throughout Australia.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced PM Operations Manager to join the Melbourne operations team at Somerton.
The PM Operations Manager is a key leadership position and reports directly to the Depot Manager.
This role is part of the Senior Management Team operating the Victorian Operation.
The key function of the role is to manage employees, contractors, and the overall operations of the PM shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective loading and despatching of interstate and intrastate linehaul movements.
Duties of the role will include:Maintaining a safe working environment - compliant with WHS policies and procedures.Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company operational processes and procedures, meeting both company and customer expectations.Managing all freight movements with tasks ranging from pickup allocation, unloading of pickup vehicles, freight and pallet sortation, to loading of interstate and intrastate linehaul vehicles.Building and maintaining effective relationships with AM operations, Linehaul, customer service, and sales teams.Regular reporting - including KPIs, WHS, labour hours, and safety incidents.Effective team management including strong leadership, leave rostering, staff discipline, and recruitment.The successful candidate must have:Highly developed leadership and operational management skills - a leader and team builder.Sound knowledge of the chain of responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint, and vehicle loading weight requirements.Solid understanding of effective pallet control systems and subsequent management of pallets within the operation.Good planning and communication skills together with a 'can-do' attitude.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Sound knowledge of metro and regional Victoria.Licence to Perform High Risk Work (Forklift Licence).What we are offering:Exposure to a large transport company with full national reach.Opportunities for career development.A friendly team to support you in an environment where you can make a difference.XL Express is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
