Home Job Info Teaching Role Description/Criteria Information Literacy Skills Collaborate with classroom teachers to teach information literacy skills relevant to the curriculum;  maintain a working knowledge of the curriculum across all learning areas and year levels;  assist and develop students' research skills so they are able to research, critically evaluate, synthesise and present information using a range of resources and technologies, and provide training to all students and staff in the effective use of library technology and information systems.
Reading Assist with the development of a reading culture within the College including promotion of the relationship between reading and academic success, as well as reading and wellbeing;  select and cull library resources to curate a collection which supports the learning needs and interests of students;  maintain an in-depth knowledge Young Adult Literature;  source books that are appropriate for all levels of engagement and interest, including English Language Learners; assist English / EAL teachers with small group conferences, guided reading and assessment of reading comprehension during reading / library sessions; work with the Learning and Teaching executive to develop, promote and teach a research-based reading program, and display a passion for reading and promote reading to students and staff.
General Library Duties Ensure the library is a welcoming and supportive environment for students;  oversee the day-to-day running of the library and be responsible for staff allocated to this area; supervise students and manage issues as they arise; perform library duties including cataloguing, circulation, returns, shelving of resources and stocktaking;  respond to reference and research enquiries;  assist students and staff with printing and photocopying; supervision of students;  general maintenance of the library environment;  develop procedures, policies and protocols in relation to student and staff use of the library so that learning opportunities can be maximised and the library operates effectively; support the online presence and resourcing of the library via websites and digital resource collections; develop a library learning environment that provides a space for collaboration, exploration and engagement; promote a range of different activities in the library at recess, lunchtime and afterschool.
