Our Legal Services team within GLR is a medium sized, well regarded in-house legal function dedicated to supporting all of the University's legal needs.
We are passionate about the contribution we make to the University's education mission, and the benefits it creates for Australian society.About the RoleAs the Corporate Lawyer, Intellectual Property and Commercialisation you will play a pivotal role in supporting the University's research and commercialisation activities.
Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you will advise researchers, contract officers, commercialisation specialists and senior executives on a broad range of legal issues, including strategic partnerships, joint ventures, collaborations, corporate governance, intellectual property, grant funding arrangements, internal policy, regulatory matters, dispute resolution and litigation.The role is predominately focused on supporting the University's research ambitions, but also offers opportunities to work on a diverse range of matters in other areas supported by GLR, ensuring continuous professional growth and variety in your work.About YouWe are looking for a passionate and experienced lawyer with an unrestricted practicing certificate and several years post admission experience in the provision of legal services in private practice or an in-house setting.
You should have a strong background in providing complex legal advice and will be able to operate independently with minimal oversight and as part of a team.
The position suits a commercial or intellectual property lawyer who can apply their broad experience to new situations and deal with uncertainty in an agile environment.Some of the key position capabilities include:
Extensive experience in provision of complex intellectual property, corporate governance, general commercial and regulatory adviceDemonstrated high-level ability to provide comprehensive legal analysis and advice on complex legal concepts to non-legal clients and stakeholders.High-level legal and analytical skills and experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.High-level ability to resolve issues independently, propose solutions by using initiative and work as part of a team.High degree of initiative and judgement in interpreting contractual documentation and legal principles and policies and procedures.Experience working in a large or complex organisation (desirable)To be successful, you are an advocate for fostering a positive culture, working in a close-knit group of professionals and demonstrate the university values and expectations.
