The role will support the overall objective of: Lead and assist the team in designing the City's program of roads, drainage, footpaths work.Investigate and design strategic infrastructure projects.Provide technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders.Develop and review Council specifications and policies in consultation with the Coordinator Engineering Design.Assist with input of the preparation of the infrastructure 10-year Capital Works Program.Liaise with Coordinator Engineering Operations regarding Opex and Capex projects for infrastructure upgrades.Prepare cost estimates for the City's Capital works as per the agreed work program.Train and mentor junior members of the team.What are we looking for: To be successful in this role you will need:
Selection Criteria KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Can lead a small team of designers and drafters.Well-developed information technology skills encompassing the ability to use Microsoft Office and AutoCAD at an advanced level.Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Standards, Austroads Standards, Main Roads Western Australia Design Standards and approval process.Demonstrated Civil Engineering design knowledge.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Developed communication skills to enable the effective provision of advice to staff, design consultants and contractors.Local government experience is desirable.
Experience: Experience in or a comprehensive working knowledge of Local Government.Minimum of 5 years industry experience.Experience in a supervisory position.Qualifications and/or Training Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and a minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.Advanced drafting skills using CAD system and excellent understanding of design standards in relation to Council projects.Current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence.Valid Construction awareness Training (White Card).A current National Police Clearance (if less than 6 months).What can the City of Vincent offer you?
