Reporting to: Head, Vascular Epigenetics Laboratory
The role
The Vascular Epigenetics Laboratory, headed by Dr Renjing Liu is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist with experience in endothelial cell research and using genetically modified mice.
Preferences will be given to candidates familiar with and able to perform small animal vascular surgeries such as wire injury models.
You will lead the characterisation of novel mouse models and preparation of samples for sequencing such as single cell transcriptomics and imaging.
Additionally, the candidate will use cellular and molecular techniques to identify and modify genes and pathways involved in various vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis.
You will have access to the state-of-the-art equipment to perform high throughput phenotypic and drug screens available through Victor Chang's Innovation Center.
You will also have access to core facilities housing light sheet microscopy, microCT and 7T-MRI.
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic investigator who aims to establish an independent academic career in the next few years.
In this role, you will supervise and train junior staff and students in the lab, and will have the opportunities to apply for external grant funding.
You will also be involved in ethics applications, and lead/contribute to manuscript writing.

Prior experience working with genetically engineered mice.
Preference will be given to candidates with small animal surgery skills.Extensive experience in some or all of the following: cell culture (particularly primary cultures), molecular biology, histology, microscopy and image analysis, and genetic modification using viruses, bioinformatic analysis.High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently.Experience in grant and manuscript writing.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people.Strong organisational, time management, and project management skills.
