What to ExpectTesla Energy is looking for a Quality Engineer to work in one of the most progressive companies in the world.
You will work with a team of engineers to diagnose electronics/ battery systems/ thermal systems.
Once the root cause has been identified, you will lead the effort to devise corrective actions that will prevent these failures from recurring.
Ultimately, you will be responsible for improving the uptime in Tesla's equipment.
To be successful in this role you will need to be skilled at troubleshooting and fault finding with an understand in electronic circuits, thermal management systems, and computer networks.
You should be comfortable working in the lab, developing your own code, and manipulating data with SQL queries.
What You'll DoConduct thorough Failure Analysis including troubleshooting, identifying root cause, and resolving power electronics hardware, software, and firmware issues that cause downtime for Tesla's Energy fleetWork with logistics team to prioritize shipping of field returns to either regional service centers or engineering headquartersCoordinate hardware teardown of power converters in Service Engineering lab with assistance from techniciansMine fleet data to identify failures, define the fingerprint for a failure mode and utilize Tesla automation tools to programmatic diagnosis and react to future occurrences of that failure modeDefine and publish the actions that need to be taken by the field service and technical support teams when a specific failure mode occurs and develop any specialized training required to complete those actionsAnalyze signal data from telemetry logs on specific fielded units, & determine if a component is damagedQuantify the benefit of a product or manufacturing improvement opportunity and work within these teams to implement the improvement for existing and future products as appropriateDrive corrective actions through the Design and Manufacturing teams and champion the deployment of containments to the global fleet of energy products What You'll BringBachelor's in Electrical or Electronic engineeringStrong engineering fundamentals and intuition, applied to firmware/software-enabled mechatronic systemsExperience using Python, SQL or equivalent for data analysisAbility to interpret and apply mechanical drawings and electronic/ electrical schematicsConfident in using electronic equipment and tools (oscilloscope etc)Excellent oral, written communication, and collaborative skillsA proven ability to work independently and achieve results; remaining flexible and responsive to changes in requirementsQuality conscious with an attention to detailWork travel is expected in this job, this would include traveling interstate and if required, abroad
