Senior Planning Engineer
This is a unique and enthralling opportunity to develop the Future Energy System plans and strategies for Horizon Power's energy systems through the Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) methodology.
The position leads the development of generation and network (transmission and distribution) long term plans and solutions in each system.

This is a permanent, full time position.

Your new role will: Lead and undertake system studies to understand capacity and power quality constraints, including steady state and dynamic modelling of power systems.Bring increased customer focus into system planning activities using a combination of demographics, load/energy profiles that contribute to system constraints as part of the IRP development for each system.Identify and support investment cases and submissions for centralised renewables, energy storage, land acquisition, including next phase opportunities for further hosting capacity release for each system.Review, update and maintain Future Energy System Planning frameworks and methodologies.Identify and implement tools required to continuously improve the IRP methodology and other team internal processes, guidelines and tools.Provide leadership in technical support and decision making to the organisation.You will have: A relevant engineering qualification is mandatory.Significant experience in energy systems (generation, transmission, and distribution) planning, design, operation, and maintenance.Demonstrated experience in renewable energy and energy storage technologies.Demonstrated knowledge of financial analysis evaluation principles and methodologies.Demonstrated knowledge of commercial aspects in the energy industry.Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management techniques.Our employees enjoy real rewards and recognition including: Paid parental leave for primary and secondary caregivers.Additional 3 days of Private Leave.Give back to your community through volunteering days.Prioritise your health and wellbeing through our award-winning Illuminate program.Our workplace culture is created through every interaction, every experience and everything we do.
