Role and Responsibilities as a Chef
Plan, estimate food and labour costs, ordering food supplies and develop menus to ensure high quality food products and restaurant profitability.Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers.Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.Discuss food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff.Demonstrate techniques and advising on cooking procedures.Preparing and cook food.Explain and enforce hygiene regulations.Select and Train staff.Freeze and preserve foods.Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, Estimate food requirements and food costs.Train and clean kitchen and work area.Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.Monitor food stock and place orders.Check freshness of food and discard out of date items.Skills, Qualifications and experience
Applicants with experience of 2 years or more working as a chef in a restaurant will be preferred.Applicant with Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher related qualifications will be preferred.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.Excellent time management skills to meet flight schedules.Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Ability to communicate efficiently.Self-motivated and able to take responsibility.Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.Excellent organisational skills.Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.The ability to work in a fast-paced kitchenExcellent communications skills, both verbal and writtenTeam PlayerA proactive approach to system improvementsRemuneration and other details
Permanent Full Time Position38 Hours per week.
