This is an exciting opportunity to undertake academic research relevant to the mining sector and Australia's research priorities.
This project will enable the successful candidate to build networks across other research organisations, industry and other disciplines internally within Curtin and other external stakeholders.In this role you will report to Dr. Denis Fougerouse, Senior Research Fellow in the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
Dr. Fougerouse is a world leader in the nanoscale characterisation of minerals and an expert in ore mineralisation systems.

You will benefit from his extensive expertise, a collaborative research environment, and access to state-of-the-art facilities.The project funds also cover the provision of two PhD students, whom you will have the opportunity to co-advise.Your new roleThe School of Earth and Planetary Sciences is seeking a Research Fellow expert in ore geology, or extractive metallurgy to conduct advanced mineral characterisation to determine processes responsible for by-product critical element mineralisation in major ore minerals, or their deportment during mineral processing.The researcher will join a multi-disciplinary team that includes researchers from Earth and Planetary Sciences, the John de Laeter Centre, and the West Australian School of Mines.To be considered for the role, you will require a PhD in Geology, Metallurgy or related disciplines.
We are very interested in hearing from candidates with expertise in critical minerals or all ore deposit types in general.Please note you will require work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
