The School provides outstanding learning experiences to produce the next generation of mechanical and mechatronic engineers, responsible for the education of approximately 2000 Mechanical, Mechatronic and Robotics Engineering coursework students across undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
About the Role
We are seeking a Lecturer to join the team on a fixed term contract for three years.
The appointee will undertake research into the design and control of microelectromechanical systems for nanometrology and support in a teaching capacity.
As a Lecturer, your responsibilities will include:
Undertaking research activities and project tasks to meet the goals, timeline and deliverables of major funded research projects.
Delivery of workshop presentations and laboratory sessions.
Assisting with the creation and updating of teaching materials.
Providing support with course logistics, communicating with students, and supervising casual teaching staff.
Contributing to maintaining strategic relationships and networks with a wide range of stakeholders including industry partners, partner institutions and internal UTS partners based in other faculties.
Co-supervising and mentoring PhD students.
This role will report to Dr. Michael Ruppert, Centre for Audio, Acoustics and Vibration.
About You
As the ideal candidate for this vacancy, you will have a strong background in microelectromechanical systems or precision mechatronic systems, as well as proven ability to conduct experimental and theoretical research with a strong track record of high-impact journal publications and conference presentations.
You will also have:
A completed doctoral qualification in mechatronics, control, mechanical, or electrical and electronics engineering or related disciplines with a strong academic record in precision mechatronic systems and/or nanotechnology.
Experience with experimental high-resolution microscopy including scanning probe microscopy and related techniques.
Demonstrated capacity to design and execute research projects independently, including problem identification, experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
Demonstrated written communication skills for scholarly publications, technical reports and project documentation with a track record or capacity to publish in high quality journals.
Experience in learning design and delivery of teaching material.

Remuneration
Base Salary Range: $121,566 to $143,880 pa (Level B) .
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and an appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for three years.
